The purpose of this position is to serve as a member of DEQ's executive
management team; to lead and directly supervise 10 managers; to direct
the environmental activities of all the regional staff and managers for
a specific geographic area; participate in the implementation of DEQ's
mission, goals and objectives; approve rulemaking proposals and
policies; develop legislative and operating budgets and represent the
Agency before legislators, the Governor's office, local governments,
stakeholders and national organizations.
This position may be located in either Salem or Eugene, Oregon

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Five years of management experience in a public or
private organization that included responsibility for each of the
following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development
of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program management, public
administration or business administration, and d) budget preparation;
OR
Five years of professional experience as a project leader, assigning and
reviewing work of professional staff including project responsibility
for developing goals and objectives, project evaluation, and monitoring
and controlling or preparing a budget;
PLUS
An additional two years of management experience in a public or private
organization which included responsibility for: a) development of
program rules and policies; b) development of long-and short-range goals
c) Program evaluation; and d) Budget preparation.
NOTE: A Graduate Degree in management, public administration, or
business administration may be substituted for one year of the required
experience.
